PRops and Weapons

  • Approvable Bases

The below approved bases may be used as the chassis for blaster props and will be heavily scrutinized by your local Armorer for appropriateness. Unless seen unmodified in canon, the blaster base must be heavily modified, with all text and labels removed or obscured. All blaster props must fit the Star Wars aesthetic. While parts of the prop may be recognizable (example, Colt 1911-style pistol grip on a live-action Westar-35 blaster pistol, or the Mauser C-96 base for the DL-44), the prop must be modified to be differentiated from it's base.

    • Decommissioned Airsoft/BB guns and accessories

    • Decommissioned Airguns and accessories

    • Nerf or Nerf-adjacent blasters and accessories

    • Water bead blasters and accessories

    • "Real-Steel" accessories - NO firearm bases

    Blaster Guidelines

    • If using a projectile launching base, all internals must be removed and decommissioned. No firing props will be approved under any circumstance. Photographic evidence of internal removal, decommissioning, or trigger dismantling MUST BE PROVIDED to your local Armorer.

    • It is recommended that all blasters, canon or custom, have a blaze-orange barrel insert or blaze-orange muzzle cap. Both may be removable.

    • All screw holes must be filled and sanded smooth.

    • Blaster props may be outfitted with moving parts and lights.

    • Blaster props may be outfitted with sound fonts, such that the sounds are of the Star Wars aesthetic. Firearm shooting sounds will not be approved under any circumstances (including Scattershot and Cycler Rifle fonts).

    • Modern tactical influences in blasters are discouraged. Excessive tactical rail, for example, will not be approved, unless seen in Canon. Tactical rail may be used sparingly to attach other blaster elements (scopes, sling points, lights, etc).

    • Free-hanging wires or cables will not the approved. Wires or cables on blaster props must be close-fitting to the prop.

  • Melee Props

    • "Bladed" props (or any prop indicating a sharp point or edge) must have a dull or softened edge.

    • "Bladed" props made with hard surface materials must have a flat face edge. This can be accompanied by an angle to give the effect of a cutting edge, but must have a flat face to prevent injury. Knife points or blade points must be rounded.

    • "Bladed" props made with soft materials (EVA foam, urethane rubber, etc) may have pointed edges. Knife points or blade points must be rounded.

    • Wood components of melee props will be heavily scrutinized for safety.

    • Wood handles for axe- or bludgeoning-type props will be taken at case-by-case basis for safety.

    • Wood knife scales are approved.

    • Melee props will not be painted with blood or gore effect.

    • Lightsabers are generally discouraged, as Canon appearances of force-sensitive Mandalorians are few. Lightsabers may be used as trophies, such that they are heavily weathered to show trophy status.

    • Darksabers will not be approved unless for Canon builds.

    Gauntlet Weapons

    • Gauntlet weapon platforms will adhere to the same CRL guidelines for blaster props.

    • Gauntlet melee platforms will adhere to the same CRL guidelines for melee props.

    • Gauntlets will NOT have firing projectiles or igniting flamethrowers (pilot lights included).

    • Fiberglass

    • Resin (cast or printed)

    • Metal (up to a certain guage)

    • EVA Foam

    • ABS/PVC (Sintra, Styrene)

    • Filament (printed)

    • If printed filament - an effort must be made to smooth out all visible print lines. If you have questions, please contact your local Armorer for best practices. Print lines in areas not visible (backsides of plates, overlapping areas, insides of helmets) do not need to be sanded. Unsanded filament will be taken at a case-by-case basis.
